“peace voyages”, what they call a Peace Boat
Talk about biased reporting. What's got the journalist's goat - the fact that lots of young Japanese feel idealistic and sign up to go on the Peace Boat to try and learn and understand more? Or maybe the fact that they listened to Fidel Castro has got him/her worked up.
If people have got their faculties, why shouldn't they go and listen and make up their own minds?
Personally I wouldn't go on the Peace Boat, but for many Japanese with limited experience of travel, it seems so much more valuable than many dumb things that so many spend their money on. Seems to me that the main opportunity is to get to meet so many people and hear so many points of view.
Still I'm not surprised that there are still so many Cold War fossils out there in media land.
