good in-depth article...boats don't capsize by themselves, so what happened ?

  • spudman at 09:06 PM JST - 23rd June

hit broadside by two rounds of waves

    that would do it.

with 7 other boats nearby you wud think any crew that didnt literally go down with the ship wud be quickly plucked from the water, sounds like they were all snoozing after being up all night probably, sad

So, WHAT is up with boats these days? There are like 1000 people dead from boats this week!

Deep sea fishing is one of the deadliest jobs on Earth. Sad for these guys.

possibly that typhoon - that unexpectedly hit around the Phillipines - swung up into the area of the China Sea .

The way this story reads, the most important thing is the bonito. I hope they can find the fish too.

serindipity- if that is sarcasm or just plain cold heartedness, its not needed. People are dead, others are missing, who cares about the fish. These men/women have families waiting for them.

did a coastguard vessel hit them?

It's neither. Merely an observation. The fish get more mention in this story than the victims.

What a way to go? Broadsided by a couple of waves and the boat probably went down like a stone. All the ropes lying around the deck would have helped at all. Every time there is a fishing/boating accident, the closing lines of the Navy hymn come to mind "those in peril of the sea." Rest in Peace.

pyramidal waves is what they think caused it.
