FIT For Charity Run raises Y59.4 million

TOKYO —

The fifth annual Financial Industry in Tokyo (FIT) For Charity Run was held Sunday at Tokyo’s National Kasumigaoka Stadium. Some 5,183 individuals from 97 financial services and related foreign and domestic organizations came together to raise approximately 59.4 million yen for local causes.

“FIT For Charity Run was established as an expression of the financial industry’s collective
commitment to making a positive contribution to the local community. In this, our fifth year, we
have attracted a record number of both organizations and individual participants, which is
evidence that FIT is now reaching out to all sectors of our industry, foreign and domestic alike,”
said Guy Matthews, co-chair of the FIT For Charity Run 2009 Organizing Committee.

Co-chair Kumiko Hori added, “The non-profit community currently faces significant challenges -
not only are funds harder to come by, but in such times, they are all the more desperately needed. Given this reality, I am particularly pleased that FIT For Charity has been able to bring our community together to help these six charities and make a meaningful difference.”

Donations raised from this year’s event will be equally divided among the following six local
non-profit organizations: Florence, Japan Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, Kibo-no-Ie, Nonohana-no-Ie, Place Tokyo and The Tyler Foundation for Childhood Cancer.

It's a shame these bankers weren't being pursued by an angry pitchfork-waving mob.

    "Where's my bailout money!!!!!"

It sounds nice until you realise the 59.4 million was their money to start with.

really - some people are never happy. I lay money that most of those running earn about the average salary man wage and are in fear of their jobs but they can still shop up for an event like this. Well done!
