Start switching over to the new containers not not in mid-May or June. Also get a grip on what caused the leaks now!! That's what needs to be done and said by the TEPCO chairman...

“We have yet to grasp the cause of the leaks. But we will strengthen monitoring activities so as to prevent the water from flowing into the sea,”

Does this mean water has been leaking into the sea, even though they have been saying it hasn't been?

Failures at the plant have underlined the precarious state of the facility.

No! Failures at the plant have underlined the incompetence in the TEPCO clean up plan.

Kind of makes you wish they would give up the typical polite optimism; insisting on a positive spin on everything. It's polluting the truth in the end and it makes you want to even question the positive work they have completed.

Just tell the facts and leave it at that.

Of course they don't know everything. There are spots that are too radioactive for a robot to penetrate. How are they going to know that everything is contained for sure.

How will strengthen monitoring prevent leakage into the sea? The plants have already leaked, and the leaked water will flow to the sea..

What active measures are being taken to stop the current leaked radioactive water entering the sea?

Quote wanderlust: "What active measures are being taken to stop the current leaked radioactive water entering the sea?"

How would you propose to do that? It's probably seeping through soil and rock faultlines into underground streams.

I wouldnt trust tepco to make me even a mug for my beer.............their incompetence clearly has no bounds

TEPCO said it will transfer about 7,000 tons of contaminated water from two of the three leaking reservoirs to tanks on the ground.

It will also build 38 new tanks on the ground with total capacity of 19,000 tons by mid-May.

= it will take some time to build this stuff. That is the reality of the situation.

This debacle is just getting worse with age. They hadn't perfromed the checks properly since the 70s. Safety measures were not implemented properly. Now, they are screwing up the clean up.

It was probably a mole burrowing around and caused the leaks. If a rat can cause a power failure then a mole can cause a leak ^_^

Those are radioactive rats and moles. Probably 5th/6th generation DNA mutants by now. =These creature can probably chew thru concrete. Serves Tepco right if you ask me.
