Fukushima police officer found dead in apparent suicide

A Fukushima police officer was found dead in a mountain forest in Minami-soma on Wednesday afternoon after having apparently hanged himself from a tree.

The officer was in his 40s and belonged to the prefectural police force's second investigation division, TBS reported. The man was found at around 5 p.m. about 100 meters from his car. There were two notes addressed to his family and superior in the car.

In April, two other officers from the same division committed suicide.

One death is a tragedy because life is a sacred gift. There are two things we can never know perfectly. Another person's mind and another person's heart. Because of these limitations, we should not judge. We do not have sufficient information to make an informed judgment. It is arrogant to assume that we can look at suicide and pass judgment on what has happened. We do not have the capacity to do so.
