Gas cylinder explodes in Oita restaurant, injuring 3 employees

A gas cylinder exploded at a "motsunabe" (hot pot stew made with offal, vegetables and miso) restaurant in Oita City on Saturday afternoon, injuring three employees.

Police said they received an emergency call from an employee of the restaurant which is located on the second floor of the building in the Funaicho district at around 3:40 p.m. Saturday, reporting that “a gas canister exploded and three people had been suffered burns, Fuji TV reported.

The three people, who were employees of the restaurant, were taken to hospital to be treated for burns.

The fire was extinguished about 40 minutes later, but the walls of the restaurant were destroyed by a fire.

According to police, the employees said they were preparing to open the restaurant when a gas cylinder fell into the fryer.

How did such a huge gas cylinder fell into the fryer really baffled me. A gas canister is more likely.
