" giant squid that wandered (rare appearance) into a Japanese port "
hope its not a precursor to seismic activity, or particulate bombardment

No one eats giant squid in Japan?
Conspiracy Theories
paulinusa, to high of a amonia content. Not bad, but not tasty either. About half the size is pretty good

Thanks. I've always thought the Japanese would eat just about anything from the sea.

Glad they didn't kill it anyway. Giant squid don't look very impressive just laid out in a museum but a lot more impressive alive in the ocean. Nice pics

My wife made me a sumptuous dinner last night that included shiokara (squid fermented in its liver that has been mashed). We made temaki with the shiokara and a wasabi paste with kuri and tamago strips. That giant squid would have made a lot of shiokara or surume that we could have munched on with some smooth sake.
