Strange the daughter-in-law waited that long, until 04:50 am to go and check if she had heard it much earlier! But I guess we'll never know.

Gas water heaters may be not good in Japan. Old heaters using city gas sometimes malfunction to leak carbon monoxide. While gas water heater is used, ventilation must be good.

Yeah, I'm not surprised they don't have CO3 detector in the house. I wonder how many even smoke detectors in the house.

I supposed they don't want to burden their son anymore. RIP.

What is Paloma - the Dr. Kevorkian of appliance makers? I'm amazed they are still in business; if they were an American company, their assets would have long ago been liquidated to compensate their victims.

The boss from Paloma was rude to the boss from another company that makes more money so that boss now says bad things about Paloma and the Japanese people believe it!

Paloma - another quality Japanese product.

Gas bills are killers

Why was this product not black banned after the first incident? In developed countries the first instance of this potentially lethal fault would have resulted in a full recall of the product and litigation of the company. I wonder how many more people will have to die before any action is taken.

Why blame Paloma? the fan must be plugged so that the poisonous carbon monoxide will not accumulate but reading the news, the couple knew that the machine is broken but they decided to use it anyway. Its like driving your car knowing that the brakes doesn't work. Its plain stupidity.

Paloma is no.1 manufacturer that produced water gas heaters in Japan and old gas heaters still cause malfucntions. They still could not and can not recall all and fix because there are too many all over in Japan. Carbon monoxide is no smell. You may be unconscious and then dead when you felt sick.
