the headline should be Gorbachev's poor health, not that he left a meeting! Meetings are meaningless when your health is concerned. However I'm not surprised this has to be explained in Japan.

Why did he get the Peace Prize for ending the Cold War? Everybody knows St. Ronald did that all by himself.

I think Gorbachev's wise decision reflects on his robust mental health !

I can understand him winning the peace prize years back, but do not understand why obama won. That would be like me winning it.

Same way I can't understand why Mandela won.
Don't get me wrong he is a good guy but all the changes(his release), etc were driven by his co-winner. Apartheid would NOT have ended except for his co-winners efforts who laid the foundation for Mandela's release, etc.

And before I get attacked I lived there from 1987~1997, so seen/experienced all the sides.
And was shocked how many non-whites voted(in 1994) AWB and not ANC as they could see the problems ahead.

Peace is not given, it must be fought for, not by violence, but by active counters against violence, by helping others, we need more peace in our hearts. Who fears peace? All the gun makers, bullet makers and war mongers.
