Disgusting; bailing out workers or comapnies is no business of the government.

Obtaining PhD degree takes less time than Govt Study Course. Contacting 'moving service' will be better, a practical way for the Jobless foreigners to get rid of j-recession.

It doesn't say the office will support the foreigners, it just STUDIES measures. They only help your gonna get for this government is getting your gaijin ass out of Japan.

And when the study group has a result, one or 2 years have passed, and somehow the situation has changed.

with permanent residency status should go into the headline
gogogo at 08:19 PM JST - 9th January
I love the fine print "with permanent residency status" What about the people on working visas? Just ship them out the door? Sub class citizens, I should ring these people up and complain to them. You can't even get permanent residency in Japan without 5-10 years and only IF the they accept you.

Sorry I re-read it
"study measures to support foreign"
They are just studying it!

This is actually quite an about face for Japan. Recently, they have been sending a survey out to legal foreign residents as a method to gain information to help improve the quality of life for foreigners in Japan. Definitely a step in the right direction.

Well this is not happening yet. I was at my local Hello Work today and was told by a company "we only hire Japanese". But I appreciate the governments effort here. But having said the above, Hello Work did introduce me to about 7 companies that were excited to get my resume, so it's not all bad. Hello Works is better that a "head hunter" becasue the company that hires you does have to pay anything and they get a tax break for hiring people that are introduced by Hello Work. Plus you don't have to deal with the "head hunter types" out there.

The official view is that if you're here on a working visa, your purpose in being in Japan is to work. If there is no work for you to do, there is no purpose in your being here, QED. Working visas are also usually sponsored by the employer, so loss of employer means loss of sponsor means loss of visa. It's harsh.
Long ago when I was applying for my PR, I was told that it was actually easier to get Japanese nationality than PR; with PR they're effectively giving rights (not much, but some) to foreigners and getting nothing in return, while with nationality they at least get to fit you into the same koseki mould as everyone else. Us foreigners are untidy in administrative terms. Dunno if that's true.

Glad I saw this unemployment mess coming last year and got my kids out

Study to be done by 2025 when the rest of the world has long moved on.
on a serious note, I hope they would put more effort into helping people find jobs.

Regarding permanent residency, when a person becomes a PR in Japan, their world wide income becomes taxable in Japan, so they do get something in return for granting permanent residency.

What does the PR mean? I still have to pay for the stupid re-entry visa and give my "criminal" fingerprints at the airport. The PR is just deemed to be the same as the 1 day visitor by this moronic government.
