Things like this become sort of hushed & the same has happened to a few Cdn troops over in Afghanistan though not in the washroom, if that makes any difference or is important.
Suicide? It sounds like he dropped it and it went off in the bathroom accidently killing him...
I too thought it was 9 empty clips, but I guess they mean 9 empty shell casings for bullets. If it was 9 empty clips there is no way this was suicide - had to be murder.
Who said anything about errors? Oh, except for the official report of the 2007 incident to cover everyone's tracks.
I see Mr. or Ms. I have no proof is at it again, huh? Regardless, I think it is rather poor taste to link one of your fantastic with the death of this young man. It has nothing to do with what you suggest, yet you insist upon making this impossible connection. Is it not possible for you to just comment about a particle article without the constant conspiracy fluff?
Anyway, thanks for providing us with the info; much appreciated, as always!
On the other hand, thanks for this comment. I do appreciate it. I am glad I could be of assistance. All it takes is looking at the real information that is out there.

That is what I think is the most likely cause.

According to the Japanese press, it was 9 or 10 empty shell casings. It was not 9 clips.

Bringing such a weapon in the toilet at 2:20 a.m, without the safety on, does not seem like an accident. It was a suicide: either he committed suicide or he was "suicided". Speaking of suicide, the Ivins case in the US is definitely suspicious.
Based on what? Solely on your imagination? He was supposed to be on patrol, having a weapon with him note only makes sense, it is correct procedure. Not having the safety on a weapon has certainly been the cause of many an accident, your abundant imagination notwithstanding.

Then maybe you should write about that in an article that has something to do with it. That would be novel for you.
kinniku,
Why do you believe that he could not have been murdered. To me it seems sabiwabi is only suggesting it as a possibility, not a certainty.
either he committed suicide or he was "suicided"
As for Ivins, I assumed it was a suicide too, but then I see headlines like "Anthrax probe to close after suspect's death" and "Anthrax Evidence Called Mostly Circumstantial". Stuff like makes you think, don't it.
Sabiwabi is suggesting (as always) some impossibly fantastic conspiracy and linking it to this poor young man's death. I think it is in poor taste. Could he have been murdered? Absolutely. Does Sabiwabi often link unconnected events to other unconnected events? Absolutely. For example: yours and Sabiwabi's insistence on linking Ivins to this article. Why not put your agendas on holiday and actually comment only on the article and not on other stories?
Maybe that is because you have suddenly decided to jump in and take sabiwabi's place. Why not read the entire thread before posting. Then things should make sense.
I will repeat that you and sabiwabi seem to want to inject your own brand of conspiracy into this particular thread. However, it ignores the fact that suicides amongst police, SDF members and the population at large in general have increased at an alarming rate in this country. This soldier's death is not a joke and does not deserved to be linked to issues in the US. It is in poor taste, as I have mentioned before.
To be clear, I am specifically referring to comments such as this:
or he was "suicided"
It is disrespectful and in poor taste to use this thread as a stage for linking conspiracy theories. You both seem to like doing this. I think it is inappropriate.

It's a fully automatic assault rifle. I'm surprised MORE rounds weren't fired...

An empty clip, and they're implying it was suicide??? Hmmmm...

You need to read the article again. It says nine empty cartridges, as in spent rounds, not empty clips.
