Pivot at 10:09 AM JST - 1st October
Unfortunately, this is the sad reality - that while military forces around the world sometimes attract smart individuals, the bulk is made of not-very-bright underachievers like this. You can repeat something till you're blue in the face and there'll always be schmucks like this.

So does this mean he failed his shooting test?
BlackFlag at 10:46 AM JST - 1st October
pivot is right, most people with a glimmer of intelligence find a career elsewhere

Maybe he wasn't as much of an idiot as a man looking to embarass his superiors or get a transfer. Shouldn't he have said I thought it was on safety?
MrMukatsuku at 11:04 AM JST - 1st October
...to the police force, where he'll be right at home.

I wonder if he can profit by being fired rather than quitting. Japanese sometimes do the bizzare to exact revenge on their bosses..ect

Lets review our weapon safety rules:
1) Treat every weapon as if it were loaded.
No, wait, nevermind the other four. We can stop right here.

He KNEW what he was doing and intentionally fired those shots. An idiot would have fired once. This malcontent dotted his i with the second shot. He has humiliated his superiors and acheived his goal.
chibaman at 05:31 PM JST - 1st October
Is it possible both those bullets just went in one ear and out the other?

Thanks BlackFlag. How I envy you and everyone else lucky enough to have that coveted glimmer of intelligence. As a matter of fact I'm turning green as I type this...

Twice?!
Wasn't one shot enough to make him realise the gun actually fired?!!
Kyokochan at 07:26 PM JST - 1st October
Yeah, I can understand one shot sailing down the hallway towards anyone unlucky enough to walking up the stairs at the wrong time, but how do you ACCIDENTALLY fire a gun TWICE in a row? A person'd have to be incredibly stupid or awfully high on marijuanna to do that. One shot would've been enough for me to put the gun down & leave it alone.
ca1ic0cat at 02:21 AM JST - 2nd October
A semi-automatic pistol can be fired twice by accident if a loose grip allows the recoil to flop the gun around enough to cause the trigger to hit the trigger finger a second time. This is why beginners are taught with one round in the pistol or a revolver.
My question is, did he accidentally hit anything?

could not disagree more. Yes some idiots get through but an awful lot more bright ones join up. Why? Well they get an opportunity to learn a trade and/or education which they would not otherwise get. Yes there is a downside that they migh actually have to risk their lives to protect you and me. Good job USN does not know your address...
