If companies and agencies would provide computers for employees to be used only for work-related purposes and actually subject to inspections, they could forbid employees from installing peer-to-peer software and know exactly which employees and when are checking out social websites, porn sites (dating sites included) and whatnot. There would be NO reason for employees to transfer company information to personal (their own) computers, and doing so could be punishable (and a reason for legal retaliation from the company). However companies prefer to have employees buy their own laptops, then complain what employees do with THEIR OWN laptops, where personal and company information happens to be stored. Do they expect employees to have two computers, one exclusively for work use? That is preposterous. The responsibility weighs heavily on both the GSDF (the company in this case) and the employee (the idiot who leaked out information).

On a second note, I do not know if the GSDF actually provides its employees with individually registered, assigned computers. I wonder if it does, since the article says,

'The Defense Ministry has banned SDF personnel from using Winny or saving work-related data on private computers.'

I wonder if employees of the Ministry of Defense managing sensitive info are provided with ministry-managed personal computers.

Here's another idea that might seem far-fetched. Punish SDF members who leak classified information with REAL JAIL TIME! I don't know if this info was classified or not, but there have been so many cases lately that Countries like China and North Korea don't need spies anymore, just intenet connections!

Aspire to become high-ranking commanders? Not anymore. Brings the term rapid career deacceleration syndrome (RCDS) to mind. This is an illness distinct to the military. It usually impacts those who manage to get too many of their men killed (in the army), those who crash too many aircraft (the airforce), those who engage in tailhook activities (the navy), etc.

Good old 2 channel; good for more than having your disgruntled EX J-girlfriend airing out all your 'dirty little secrets' for all of Japan to see LoL!!
