Does anyone know if this vaccine is from the dead virus or the live virus, and if foreign residents can get the shot too.

truthliberates: foreign nationals living in Japan are likely at the tail end of the ranking system, unless they are allowed a shot based on the above criteria (ie. pregnant woman with chronic disease, parents of infant, etc.). Even then, though, the government might limit it to Japanese at first.
It will be an interesting test of the vaccine, if nothing else. I suspect, though, we're simply going to hear a lot of the same old, "Yes, I was vaccinated, but the flu I caught was a different strain".

I have asthma so I will be able to get a shot as priority. You need proof of a chronic problem. I have in my possession paper work from when it hospitalized me several months ago.

This article appears to be almost entirely fictitious. I know children and their parents already given the jabs this morning and others booked in for tomorrow.

My wife and son were vaccinated last week and the local children's clinic has been doing vaccinations for a couple of weeks. Talking to other parents of infants at work it is the same where they live (Tokyo / Yokohama area).

the government is NOT going to limit Japanese first. foreign nationals will have to wait with Japanese based on the above criteria. my kid will get a shot the same time with the rest of his japanese kindergarden classmates. and I will probably have to wait until early next yr same as Japanese parents. You just have to try and get an appt. as soon as you can.

are u sure it s h1n1 shot and not the seasonal flu shot? clinics that i've asked haven't started the h1n1 shot, yet.
asianyetgaijin at 03:00 PM JST - 19th October
truthliberates, it is from inactivated virus: the living viral seed (from WHO or local related-institution) were grown in special eggs, then the viral seed from the eggs were harvested and deactivated and made into vaccine.

Hey!! First family member contracted the flu today, and I think I am getting it. I will let you know how it goes. Not sure about the diagnosis, but this feels a little more respiratory than the normal flu, so I have my hopes up. I expect the lost productivity in my household from the illness to surpass the cost of the flu shot by tomorrow afternoon, probably sooner.
We took reasonable precautions, but here we are. I expect that once one person in the household gets it, it will spread. My goal is to get exposed without it going full blown on me. Then I can get the antibodies without the illness OR the vaccine. TADAH!!

The headline should read: Flu vaccinations begin in 31 of Japan's 47 prefectures.

Coincidentally, so do deaths due to an allergic reaction to this vaccination.
