so they've became japanese citizens, what now?? can they enjoy the same privileges the japanese do?? will they be able to get good jobs ( considering their ages)?? they just haven't realized yet how hard it is for them at that age to live in japan nowadays...aaah.....

Whoopity-doo! The fact that this is major news is a little sad, particularly in light of the fact that Japan NEEDS more people. I'm happy for these people that they got their wish to be recognized/registered as Japanese, and I hope it makes their lives better. Good on the Japanese courts, too, I just wish there weren't so much red tape to cut through to get what Japan clearly needs and should accept more easily.

This should have never had to reach the high court. It is the efforts to keep foreigners out of Japan that make situations like these take so long and go through the entire court system. Shame on the Japanese legal system for making these two suffer for so long.

So now they must give up their Phillipino nationality. Or were they already Japanese without a family register (Koseki)?

Japanese people should suffer the same problems in other countries, so that these old people who runs the country will realize what they do to foriegners.......
