Crazy. One of the first things they teach you in driving school is to not swerve to avoid animals but just run them over. And since she died it is unknown why she swerved, perhaps she had fallen asleep.
And what the heck did the male driver of the car that hit her do? She caused the accident, if anything the dead woman's parents should have to give him money.
easy to say from the comfort of your chair, proxy. It's a natural reflex to swerve away from an animal that suddenly darts in front of you on the highway...
It's ridiculous to think somebody can control wild foxes. Maybe they should just kill all the foxes.
From my "armchair" I have hit animals several times. If an idiot driver does something stupid that's their own fault.
Sixty nine other people hit foxes, if she wasn't able to operate a car properly she should not have been driving.
hoserfella - I agree with proxy. The woman caused her own death swerving into another lane and got hit. Natural reflex? Common! Happpened to me, I just ran over a dog and nobody died if I had swerved to avoid it, on a very busy highway.
I'm with Proxy, too. If there had been a "fox crossing" sign, I doubt it would have made any difference. And it's not possible to keep foxes out of the road with barriers. You'd have to put them all on leashes and walk them three times a day. They've been trying deer barriers in eastern Hokkaido. These include forests of plants that deer don't like, animal underpasses and fences. The results haven't been too favorable.
As a driver here in Jpn this is one of my biggest fears, that someone else will do something stupid either another driver or a pedestrian & then having to take the blame, a lot of the ""reasoning"" by the courts here is utterly insane. Seems pretty obvious this woman got herself killed & now someone else not only has to live with the fact they were in a terrible ACCIDENT but the courts fine them effectively ruining or severly handicapping the rest of there life all for only being in the wrong place at the wrong time

If the Nippon Doro Kodan want to charge outrageous fees, they should pay them out in compensation as well.

Most Japanese women shouldn't be allowed to drive, esp. older ones.
Anal retentive, panic happy hysterics simply don't belong on the road.
Okay, make that most Japanese.
PS hoserfella, you're wrong. The reason they teach us that is because it is a natural reflex.
I hit a skunk once. Now that is nasty.
