OKINAWA —

A 62-year-old hiker on Monday was found dead on Kushidake mountain in Okinawa after he went missing on Sunday, police said Tuesday.

According to police, the hiker, a 62-year-old architect, went missing around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday while he was hiking with his friend. They split up for a while but the friend was unable to locate the man again later. He was found dead around 10 a.m. on Monday.

I'd be questioning the friend in great detail, if I were the police.

Most likely it could of been a Habu snake that bit him.

If it was a habu, they would see that pretty quick by the swollen leg. I think the guy had a heart attack or foul play.

I blame the habu! I've hiked Yonahadake on Okinawa (tallest mountain on Okinawa) and if I were to be bitten by a habu while hiking alone, there would be no hope for a rescue. Except for near the base of the mountain, you seldom saw anyone, even other hikers.

I think the mountains in Okinawa are very dangerous and people should never go there.

Could have been the lack of oxygen high up in the Okinawan Alps.
