Hiraizumi site misses out on UNESCO World Heritage listing
Good.
Double good. Japan has enough "Heritage" sites, and this not an Olympics medal race. The way this country so desperately craves recognition from the rest of the world....

Mt. Fuji shouldnt be given world heritage status until it is cleaned up, the reason for its repeated refusal in the past. covered with litter it is only beautiful from a distance.

If you think Japan doesn't deserve more World Heritage Sites because it has too many already, who let France and China get so many. Japan has many places of cultural and natural scenic merit that deserve to be on the World Heritage list

Some of the places in Japan that should be on the World Heritage List (some of these are on the tentative list):
Kamakura, Yonaguni, Mt. Fuji (some cleaning up would be nice), churches of Nagaski, Hiraizumi, Ogasawara islands, Asuka-Fujiwara, the Kofun (tombs), Ise Jingu
