HIROSHIMA —
A counter on a “peace clock” monument at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum that shows the number of days since the last nuclear test was reset Tuesday, a day after North Korea’s proclaimed second nuclear test.
In the 12th reset since the clock’s debut in August 2001, the digital number was changed to one from 960, which denotes the number of days since the last test—also by Pyongyang—took place in October 2006.

They need to find a new piece of clock because this one may become stationary if NK continues to test nuclear devices at short intervals.

You mean since the last known test..??
NK is not the only nation testing bombs. To think that they are is very ignorant.

I see no purpose in having the clock at all. Every time I visit Hiroshima, some 'make love not war' zealot always wants me to sign some petition stating I'm for Nuclear Disarmament. These people need to pull their heads out of the arses and realize that the world is full of evil people wanting to do evil things and the only way to deal with these types is through a position of power. I'd sure like to see how long the USA would last if they dismantled all their Nuclear weapons. We'd all being speaking Russian-Chinese. It's the principle of MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction) that has kept the world from falling into another World War longer than any other form of diplomacy..... Long live the MX Missile System!!

Then you must support Japan if she should possess nuclear weapons.

the russians offered full nuclear disarmament but the yanks wanted to keep their toys. remember that there are two sides to every coin
USARonin at 06:59 PM JST - 27th May
The Brits didn't wanna keep their toys?
Gawd.

Let the Nipponites have their nukes, it will stimulate the ecomomy. Who cares? Every other developed country has them...and the ones aligned with the west have u.s. nuclear armed ships or subs on hand even if they are all egalitarian and shit and refuse to stock their own ;) ... oh except new zealand : ) if someone ever gets a craving for sheep and attacks that rock, yur on your own boys.

They wanted to reset the clock after every nuclear "incident" at a plant here in Japan, but too many people thought the clock wasn't functioning since it always showed 1 day.
In answer to all of your questions: The US is not MAD because we are the good guys and China and the Russians are all mad devils 'cause Ronnie Raygun says so. Haven't you ever watched John Wayne? Did I get it right, Lazerfish?
But seriously folks... What do you think the odds of a big earthquake between now and about 286,000 years in the future are? Just add Tsuruga to the Nagasaki/Hiroshima list, sit back and wait. Ah, this is why so many Japanese are retiring to Canada?
