Info on 719 harassment cases leaked online from Waseda Univ

Information on 719 harassment cases on campus has been leaked through file-sharing software, Waseda University said Tuesday. The information includes individual names of students and professors in sexual harassment and abuse of power cases, as well as stalking incidents at the university.

According to the university, the information collected from students between April 1999 and May 2007 has been confirmed leaked on the Internet.

A spokesperson for the university said a female part-time representative for students on the Harassment Prevention Committee took the information home in July and sent it to a male friend by email to ask how to make a database. The spokesperson said the man uses a file-sharing software and that the information was leaked from his PC.

Seriously, what is it with people and their inability to use their own computer's software? It's a fairly simple matter of blocking files and folders from the prying eyes of file-sharing software. What gives?

Love it. Anything to further prove that Elite schools & universities mean nothing when there is crime committed, students don't even bother to study, or in this case, mass harrassment:)

tmarie, file sharing viruses exist and are notorious for these kind of leaks. This is just one of thousands.
