I read some of the analysis of this accident, and I really wonder about passing Aegis technology to people who grew up on video games. None of it is real, and a "reset" restores everyone to their previous positions. Could it be the dopey watch guards on the Otago were so influenced? Folks, it's not a video game. There are no do-overs!
More likely since the room (space) where the JN sailors monitor the "radar scopes" (touchy discription there sorry) is a dark, heavily airconditioned, quiet area. It is very easy for someone to fall asleep there. I have personally gone in those spaces to wake people up.....
Funny, just today in a train station there was a self defense force recruitment booth with a sign that read: 「平和を仕事にしょう」 or something stupid like that.
