The US also imports and exports it to Japan. Did you know that Georgia coffee was a product of Puerto Rico?

Did you know that Georgia coffee was a product of Puerto Rico?

I can't blame the Puerto Ricans: If my coffee tasted like that I'd want it out of my country too.

Are they ever going to catch the person/people behind this? It's getting so bad you'll have to make stuff at home and bring it with you...

Alot of us psychologically don't really think of Puertoi Rico as part of the United States.

"TOKYO — A can of coffee sold from a vending machine in Tokyo has been found to be mixed with insecticide

  • gaijintraveller at 09:35 AM JST - 11th May

"A can of coffee sold from a vending machine in Tokyo has been found to be mixed with insecticide, the health ministry said Friday." Read this carefully. It was obviously a scientific experiment to improve the efficiency of the insecticide. The man bought a can of coffee from a vending machine and added it to some insecticide in an attempt to either make it more effective or to attract insects that like sugar as canned coffee contains an excessive amount. He then tasted it to test its efficacy.

I find it hard to believe that the #1 coffee drink in Japan is from Puerto Rico. PR doesnt make enough coffee, and its way too expensive compared to most other coffees. Can you prove this allegation?

  • realist at 02:58 PM JST - 11th May

No more canned coffee for me, thats for sure. The stuff generally tastes vile, anyway!

"So we'll see a press conference with a bunch of old guys staring at their shoes and there'll be the sound of cameras clicking and flashes going off. Then it will be back to business as usual."

Very well said, blvtzpk. WE will indeed see ONLY that press conference, and YOU will assume this is all that happens. YOU will be wrong, however.

Because YOU know what happens BEHIND the scenes at EACH and EVERY company, don't YOU? Pull the other one - it plays jingle BELLS!

AH...I forgot to mention how a similar scene played itself out in my workplace. And yes, it was business as usual after the public apologies had been gotten out of the way.

"AH...I forgot to mention how a similar scene played itself out in my workplace. And yes, it was business as usual after the public apologies had been gotten out of the way."

Ah... the "Oh, I could have brought this up hours ago to make a strong impression but I forgot"-excuse for suddenly remembering a very convenient but unfortunately fake example.

What did you do about it? Did you inform the police? Or are you part of the system?

  • blvtzpk at 05:41 PM JST - 14th May

You make me laugh when you take the schoolground route. It's easy to say 'it's fake' because it doesn't gell with your perceptions about '100% pure Japan'. But you tend to use that approach a lot - say people are lying or making things up when things don't go your way. You're never satisfied until you end up mocking the other poster or accusing them of lying. That's a sad reflection on you. It really is.

In my workplace it was a problem that emerged due to the conflict between of two people who wroked at two differnt workplaces. A person accused a colleague in my workplace of being intellectually dishonest, which we found he was. It ended up becoming a public matter reported on by the local press. Did I report it to the police? It was not a police matter, but it was an ethical issue of interest to the local populace. However, it was handled inadequately internally when the details emerged. Did I express my dissatisfaction on the matter in the workplace? Yes I did. Am I part of the system? I work in the system, but I am not in full agreement with every policy and approach that my workplace promotes. What about you?

Now, if this product was from China (or some other country, like beef from the US)...

Georgia's coffee is from Colombia. Their Emerald Mountain says so on the can. Their other coffees can't be blended with PR coffee because its too expensive.

the insecticide prob get on the outside of the can. otherwise it cant be just ONE can!
