The Italia Matsuri (festival) will be held in Tokyo from June 2-8. Italian Wine Day will kick off the festival on June 2 during which consumers can buy one glass of Italian wine and receive the second one for free in about 500 restaurants across Japan. 

Events scheduled for June 7-8 include Italian food booths featuring pizza, pasta, piadina, prosciutto, formaggio, gelato, and SegaFredo coffee; Italian wine booths showing the diversity of Italian wine from north, central and south Italy; and a display of Italy on wheels from Fiat 500, Alfa Romeo, Vespa and Rosa Bicycles.

On Saturday June 7 from 2-4 p.m., waiters from 20 Italian restaurant will compete in a 800-meter race within the Roppongi Hills complex, holding a tray with bottle and glass of Ferrari champagne. The winner receives the grand prize of 500,000 yen worth of Italian wine.

Also on Saturday, the winner of an Italian Wine Essay Contest (in Japanese) will be awarded the keys to an Alfa 147. Other events include a treasure hunt on Sunday, wine seminars on Saturday and Sunday and Gelato seminars on Saturday and Sunday.
