Japan will lease military aircraft to the Philippines in another sign of

its precocious military-industrial complex

“We agreed that it is important for all the countries in the region to strengthen cooperation in order to maintain peace and stability of the South China Sea,” Nakatani told reporters. It will be Japan’s first lease of its Self-Defense Forces’ aircraft to another country after it recently lifted a self-imposed ban on weapons exports.

Nice try, but there should be no confusion, the lifting on weapon exports was only for Japanese military industrial complex to make cash money on selling weapon, not for peace and stability in some part of the world.

The planes that are to be leased to Philippines are basically US made business jets in which it has nothing to do with Japan's so called military industrial complex.

Japan should lease F-16's to the Philippines instead of this obviously only for show ragtag Toys R Us pesticide spraying junks.

Tokyo is making a fool of Manila.

How can Abe expect the Philippine Air Force to defeat China's MIG 21's with those metal kites?

maybe constitutional limitation or no security treaty or no Japan's miliatry bases in the Philippine.

If Japan considers the Philippines as an ally then Abe should give the latest military equipment irregardless of the absence of security treaty or any other sneaky reasons .

Otherwise Tokyo is just using Manila as a pawn .

Japan doesn't have F-16s they are F-2 and the construction line had been closed down a long time ago so they can't produce more. On top the Filipinos doesn't have the maintenance capabilities to keep the planes up so it would be a waste. It's like the F-14 that Iran had, after the revolution they were sitting on the air strips gathering dust.
