Like go to sleep with it? I would assume eat some of it, but the word... never heard it used that way before. Any linguists here to help out?
Great record though. Becky should have been there.

Yup, Mabo, it's right there in the dictionary - tuck in (or into) informal eat food heartily. In British English a tuck-in is a large meal, and a tuck shop is where you buy your mid-morning snack at school.

Thanks Cleo. I will use the term with my girl friend this evening. She studied British English and always has me stumped. Never really knew how different they can be.

They made the world's longest kebab out of the wrong kind of meat, and carefully avoided using any chilli, in case it tasted like a kebab. We Japanese prefer our stunts on the bland side.

Darn it Ivan! You beat me to that comment! I would also bet that the REAL Kebab made out there in LEBANON has to be way tastier than this fake one out here in Ishigaki, I could be wrong but just a wild hunch!

Japanese make record-breaking import food? The Japanese? Are we talking about the Japanese here? Ishigaki is not a "Japantown" in downtown Chigago or something?
Or did they finally understand that mixing coal with iron did result in steel?

First off, who ever put this into english needs some lessons. Perhaps a more "japanese" word would have been kushi? And Ishigaki gyu is VERY good, in fact most of the high class wagyu come from, at least the baby cattle, Ishigaki (land of Happy Cows?).
I find it somewhat refreshing to gain noteriety for something positive, like promoting local industry. Too much politics, radiation & whinning simply wear on the mind.
Now I think I will tuck in for the night!

15000 people ate a 100 meter kebab? That is about 0.6 cm each. Weeeak!

I think the good people of Ishigaki should have contacted the Lebanese embassy here in Tokyo and invited them. Just as a common courtesy IMHO.
