It's strange. All of a sudden, there is a positive push toward North Korea. There were many positive comments from Kim Jong Il's sushi chef, who has previously written books that might not endear him to North Koreans, but he seemed genuinely comfortable with the new leader and his wife. He was told he was always welcome to visit, Now we have this article, which not completely uncritical, is at least pointing a way forward.
So many things happen behind the scenes these days. I wonder what's going on...

Until there is a tangible, sustained, unilateral reform in North Korea, a move toward complete openness, a complete and verifiable renunciation of nuclear and missile programs, and liberation of the minds of the people of North Korea, it's hard to believe any of this is really progress. North Korea gets hungry, it plays nice. North Korea gets fat, it sinks ships or "launches satellites." Littlest Kim will take advantage of the West's projecting their hopes onto him, negotiate for all he can get, then turn his back on his promises. Like father, like son.
