Well now all we need is for the ministries to check themselves and see who is taking bribes, payoffs, golf memberships, dinners etc etc and properly check everything then we can start trusting food again...

I'm seriously, talk about closing the barn door after the horse has run...

This is the correct thing to do. Obviously as this melanine scare has spread throughout the globe, it simply cannot be blamed on extremist actions on the part of Japanese officials. It has nothing to do with bribery or payoffs either. If that were the case then all countries affected like South Korea and the United States are as guilty. But common sense dictates that no one knew about this melanine stunt, what country's officials would dream that Chinese made products could kill and hurt you.

rid_jr- Other countries have told their citizens which products contained the poison. Still waiting for Japan to do that. Why will they not tell??

They should be inspecting rice products more vigourously too to make sure that tainted rice isn't put into the human foodchain as much.

You're kidding me right neverknow2? Just go back to Sunday October 5th in the National section and go to the news thread about an Osaka based importer of snacks made in China lists which products are affected. That's just one example.

And Alien2Japan and others, this is about Chinese pet food stuffs, not about Japan university rice. By the way that was caused by the stupidity of a lone university employee's actions, hardly on the same league as milk executives willingly substituting a potentially lethal ingredient that will be exported around the world. Totally different.

    How about the human food???

Ag. minister has apologized for contaminated J-rice scandal in Diet deliberations today, however, J-media seems focused on Chinese foods.
