"The requests are the first step on a journey that could take many months, but which commentators say is likely to result in the resumption of nuclear power generation in Japan"
Doesn't take all that long to conveniently forget, does it? And didn't the NRA just today approve TEPCO's plan to decommission the Fukushima plant, which ignored the waste disposal problems and will take 40 years?

Tepco have proven they dont know how to run or handle crisis management let alone nuclear reactors

We've gone "nuclear free" (except for two Oi reactors) for nearly 2 years... doesn't this show we don't need it? Instead of spending billions on improving the nuclear power plants (which really can't be made completely safe in a country with so many earthquakes) why not invest that money in green power?

gosh, im so happy with this news lol nuclear power needs to go...

Instead of spending billions on improving the nuclear power plants, billions are being spent on fossil fuels to make up for the energy not being generated by nuclear power plants. Green power will require additional investment.

Japan may be with nuclear power electricity on the grid but that not exactly "nuclear free". Japan won't be nuclear free until all nuclear plants are decommissioned and no fuel is in any cooling pond. Japan really needs to go geothermal in a big way. It also doesn't make sense to heat homes if geothermal hot water can do the job. Someone needs to visit Iceland.

Try checking out an operating nuclear reactor?

So Japan has already been nuclear free before. Inconvenient to politcos sold to the nuclear industry. Meanwhile Japan could go off the oil generation too if it used hydro and thermal energy, solar, or really anything else. Y'know, if it tried
