A "kawaii ambassador"?!?! I can't think of anything lamer...unless it happened to be somebody from AKB48 or HKT48. I guess everybody has different definitions of "awesome." The RT flight is cool, but the rest...

heretoolong: I guess they are trying to cater to what they think foreigners like...sushi, kawaii, ninjas... Hopefully the winner gets to choose their prize. I know I would be going for the ninja thing myself as the other 2 would make me sick.

    (a) grant the Agency the perpetual right (including the right to sublicense to a third party) to use the User Content worldwide without any charge and on a non-exclusive basis (including the right to reproduce, disclose, transmit, distribute, transfer, lease, translate, and adapt), (b) agree not to exercise the moral rights of the author against the Agency

Looks like another idiot only contest from the terms. Basically, even if you don't win you lose copyright over your work (legally equivalent, since they post to facebook using your agreement) and they can use it all they want.

Always look at the fine print people, this is NOT a contest you should enter with good photos, only with those you really could care less about.

so this is not for residents of Japan?

English speaking people don't live in Japan! (at least that's what's implied by the prizes)

According to the official rules, only Japanese citizens are ineligible, but you can still reside in Japan.

Overall, the rules associated with this contest are brutal. They include literally every clause that photography sites explicitly state you should see as a warning that the contest is meant to be a rights grab rather than an actual contest.

"The Japan Photo Contest runs from until Feb 15, 2013. " Moderator does it need correction?

    According to the official website

    "September 1, 2012 to 11.59pm, February 15, 2013 (Japan time)"
