The row over the Kurils, which Soviet troops seized in the closing days of World War II in 1945, has prevented the two countries from signing a treaty to formally end the conflict.

Stalin and Rustbelt had make decision that Kuril islands are part of Russia. For Russia Kuril islands is strategic security object - non-freezable gateway to Pacific Oceans. That islans are not strategic objects for Japan. Japan live without that islands and not death. But Russia can't live without that islands because is guaranty death for Russia.

Thursday’s flight had aroused “suspicion among the Japanese people about its intentions,” Gemba told a news conference. “I requested that (Russia) refrain from taking provocative action.”

Now Japan not respect strategic security of Russia. Because Russia can't respect strategic security of Japan.

I think Japan will responding to these 'bomber threats' by sending Yakuza run rightist propaganda vans with a dozen loud speakers chanting anti-Russian slogans or we want our isles back.....similar rhethorc at the Russian embassy in Tokyo!

I find these ultra nationist comments by our russian and Chinese friend above strange.

Yes Japanese ultranationalism is wrong, but your ultra russian and Chinese nationalism is even greater.

I contend that if either of you had been Japanese in the 1930's etc you would have both relished the opportunity to kill/ rape etc in either China or Russia.

My point being ultranationlism of any kind, (including both just a guy and Bessanov) leads to the same inhumanity which mankind has suffered for milleniums

Ever played RISK?

Great jump off place for the pacific.

Best way to deter the Russians is to lite them up or in easier terms turn on the attack radars on our fighters. Bear bombers are an easy shoot down. The Russians do not allow Japanese in their defense zone, we should not allow them in ours.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

NO, they should not be allowed in but, they weren't. But such actions are provocative. But I am pretty sure the the U.S., Japan practice operations together can also be viewed as threatening as well to North Korea and China because of the location of them and propose we move those operations to Hawaii to avoid the same feelings that we here are feeling from Russia. Anyway, Russia should back off and understand that these kinds of flights are not good for relations at all. They may get their pilots some necessary training in how they would attack Japan but such operation do provoke distrust amongst most Japanese citizens and make relations more difficult. I know that Russia will continue to do since it has new wealth and is one of the B.R.I.C. nations and feels that now that it is growing economically that it can thumb its nose at anyone it wants. But wait a minute. Isn't that the same thing that Japan and the U.S. has been doing with their annual exercises that China and North Korea complain about all of the time. I guess what is good for the goose is good for the gander.

Japan urges Russia to stop bomber flights

And Russia says: what do we get in return.

I used to see gangsters driving their low riders with their loud gangster music, showing their ganster colors, this in comparison is the same thing, just more in the league of the Big Boys. There is an old saying: A dog that barks never bites. Lets hope it is true or here comes NATO.

we spy on them, they spy on us. Really, this is all SOP. Unless one actually invades the airspace, there's nothing to hyperventilate about .

You wrote about emotions but you not wrote that i'm not right or that i'm not respect of Japan. Tell public please how Japan respect strategic security of Russia? Russia never do something terrible for Japan. Japan lose only little area that not important for strategic security of Japan. It was decision or Russia and USA. Opinion of Japan not important for that problem.

Also in 1945 and now Japan can't get Kuril island because you know that these islands really can be controlled by only Russia, USA or China. No one countries never get strategic object to Japan. You can see how Japan got Okinawa. Really Japan not own of Okinawa. You know about it but you wrote that i need rape and kill you. You are not right. In Russia lives about 180 different peoples, with different religions and languages.

to JT:

Topic about Tu-95, but on your photo Tu-160. That very different airplanes.

And Russia says: what do we get in return.

And Japan says: there might be something you won't get in return. How about: Trade, Trust, Technology.

Russia may be big and almost bursting at its seams. But history has taught that these nations unable to contain themselves will eventually fail to achieve their aggressive goals.

The Russian bombers 'circling' around the japanese airspace was 'co-incidence' with a Chinese airforce An-12 ELINT aircraft repeat acrossing the middle line between China and japanese maritime border which was nearby the Senkaku isles. The incident was held at the moment when japanese PM Mr Noda was inspecting the Fukushima nuclear disaster site! The Sankei news described the 'sino russian' actions was the 'most bare boned provocative actions!'

I sure that The Sankei news have many emotions. Also their opinion is not professional. Also I sure that fly Tu-95 and An-12 isn't coordinate because we have not best relationship with China.

An-12 ELINT is reconnaissance aircraft. May be China want see of fly our Tu-95. If I right then An-12 was fly to Senkaku on time when there was Tu-95. That is means that fly of An-12 was against Tu-95.

If you can find more information about time of fly Tu95 and An-12 please write about it. May be Gemba and your ministry of defense must told about An-12 to our ministry of defense because it very important for peace in Asia area.

@just-a-guySep. 11, 2011 - 01:37AM JST

You must understand that it was only our drill WITHOUT China!!! Also fly of Tu-95 is not drill with China!! Fly of An-12 that is own Chinese action without coordinate with us!!! That is impossible!!!

@JT @just-a-guySep. 11, 2011 - 01:37AM JST

I found all information and solve all problems about topic.

First Tu-95MC is not bomber. That is airplane only for carry of cruise missile X-55 that can fly about 2500-5000 kilometers. That is means that Tu-95MC tested not opposite of Japan but for opposite of China. Because X-55 can fly only to China in current situation.

But stupid Gemba good told about Tu-95MC because we not need explane to China about it. WOW!

May be that our action is signal to China "don't touch our Japan!". Because China was worry about it and send An-12 ELINT.

My describe of that situation is very logic. You need some brain guys!

No idea what planes are being used, were being used etc..I am sure the CIA and the American Airforce along with the J SDF know, now we just need to know what the Chinese, the Russians are up to, is their some RIVALRY by China and the Russians over their FAR EASTERN regions near us here in Japan??

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Not only Kuril Islands but also Hokkaido were never a part of Japan, historically. Russia needs them more than Japan, maybe they can arrange a purchase?
