yes,but they are like slippers and that lends them popularity in Japan because of the fact that kids often take their shoes off to sit on train seats and when they enter houses etc.Maybe not a good choice for littlies, but I wouldn't mind getting some black ones to wear inside school...can't find my size though.LOL I am spared your wrath.

NeoJamal, you're wrong. Escalators in Singapore (and most other places around the world) run at a NORMAL speed. The ones in Japan are slow!!

We, as in consumers, have all known about the dangers of these "mini crocs" for quite some time now. But everytime my wife and I go shopping we see so many children wearing them. We can't understand why parents let their children continue to wear these potentialy dangerous footwear. And it is completely beyond our comprehension why stores are still allowed to sell them. Are we not capable of taking action before tragedy strikes?

These kinds of accidents are going to continue as long as Crocs-wearing kids ride escalators.

My wife bought a pair of these shoes for my daughter and I threw them away on the same day she bought them. The warnings are clear and the regular accidents are documented, so what possess people to buy these stupid shoes?

  • nandakandamanda at 02:40 PM JST - 8th October

Yup, sue the Mum for buying them, and the Dad for going along with it.

ugliest shoes on earth. woman in my office wears them. even though they're only shoes they seem to make anything you wear that much uglier.

I feel very very sorry for this poor 4 year old little girl! If these shoes are proven to be too dangerous, they should be taken off the market! A good old American lawsuit would put the makers of Crocs in their place!

I felt like doing that, but the grandparents bought them. I just have to watch the kids like a hawk now when they are on escalators.

    What about stairways?

I think people dont really think about where they are going and what they are doing before they put their shoes on and leave their houses - definately not only in Japan. Aussie truck drives wearing thongs / Japanese restaurant workers wearing slippers etc etc... We all need to consider what we put on our feet and whether our footwear is safe. Crocs are probably best for the beach ... can get them wet, are light, etc. But not safe enough to wear in town ...

I agree they look quite ugly. The only use I could think of for them would be maybe reef-walking as the holes would let the water out nicely.

Everytime I see someone wearing Crocs, I feel like asking them why they wear such unattractive footwear.

I've done this and they always reply, "They're comfortable." This is true, but they do not provide arch support.

    BAD BAD SHOES.

Why any responsible parent would inflict those hideous-looking shoes on a child is beyond belief. On adults or children they are ugly shoes, and now its be proven they are dangerous as well. I feel so sorry for this little girl and her parents.
