    Drunk perhaps??

  • tmarie at 08:47 AM JST - 4th February

And I think it is safe to assume that it was Osaka/Senri International as this is the only "international" school in Osaka for that age as far as I know.

  • kurisutofu at 09:47 AM JST - 4th February

There is also the possibilty that she was drunk.

TV news reports this morning suggested the girl was leaving the room next door to her room, where she was visiting a male student from the same school, via the window balcony because a teacher was making the rounds in the hallway. It seems that while she was trying to get to her own room's balcony she fell.

Yes, she made a mistake. However, it is sad that the mistake cost her her life.

I should add that the reports also stated that they also found blood in the room that she left, so there is also suspicion of 'foul play'.

why do JT news articles always just give you half of the story? forcing us with too much time on our hands to play Hercule Poirot. if you can come up with the basic story, after brief questioning important information can be gleaned, but usually the media acts on the initial event. i guess Japanese news is like that too?

    Notginger,

Sorry! I meant to write 'might cost her her life'.

who knows as its in hands of the Thais. As we are gaijin here they/we are farang there... just an Asian thing... but her chances in a Chiang Mai hospital are slim. To me... what the hell are 16 yr old students doing in Thailand?

Blood in her room and falling to death? Foul play or she offed herself.

As for being 16 and in Thailand, why not??

  • TRichfield at 02:02 PM JST - 4th February

meanmutha, according to Japanese media reports, the students were in Thailand on a school trip.

  • kinniku at 04:53 PM JST - 4th February

Exactly. What is wrong with students taking a school trip to Thailand? It is a wonderful country and the people are generally kind and friendly. This incident could have just as easily happened in Japan.

    See Kinniku's post.

The blood was from a finger cut from a beer can. There was panic and the cut was accidental.
