From what I've seen of her from TV news films, the ex-chef is right on ... she's quite "pretty & charming." It appears that the "young Kim," as the above article calls him, is reaching out to let the world know that he's not like his father & grandfather ... but a much kinder person.

Who wants to kill him? If it was North Korea, wouldnt he still be in North Korea?

Then again, it's easy to be "charming" when you're able to refer to every other individual in your country as "the help."

As for pseudo fujimoto, what kind of an IDIOT wud have done that job at any time, let alone while millions starved there, I am not surprised he/she/it feels the need to hide, an awful lotta shame there to be sure!

Charming maybe but pretty ? She is overweight just like Kim Jong-un, maybe not as fat but definitely fat. In a country where they need food aid, how in the world can the ruler justify flying in a chef and gorging on the food the chef prepares. They should have used the money to import food for their people cause Kim Jong-un and his wife need to lose weight and excerise. Also feed their people.

I just wonder why he was invited to N Korea because Sushi cook? I thought N Korea hates Japan but it seems to like Japan the most.

Lots of comments about The N Korean dictator living the high life while there are people going hungry in N Korea...But is it not the same in all Countries to some degree? All the Elite government leaders live like kings in there mighty Mansion and have chefs preparing elaborate and expensive meals while the poor grovel in the streets and beg or scrounge for whatever they can find, the poor struggle mightily, the middle class get taxed up the yazzoo as a means of insuring that they remain middle class and the rich keep getting richer... Name one country that is led by a man or women that does not live an extraordinarily lavish life style,or one that is insuring the poor, lower middle class, even upper middle class are being treated as equals to the rich. The very fact that humans are "CLASSED" via ones economic standing is disturbing.

I'm not sure about the relevance of what Fujimoto has to tell.

"The Japanese chef, whose book offered a rare insight into the goings-on behind the scenes in the ruling household, now always wears dark sunglasses, a variety of headgear and has moved homes frequently, indicating that he feels his life is threatened."

From whom does he have to fear such threats? Old men in black trucks who couldn't do more than illegally park?

" The Japanese chef, whose book offered a rare insight into the goings-on behind the scenes in the ruling household, now always wears dark sunglasses, a variety of headgear and has moved homes frequently, indicating that he feels his life is threatened. "

...and now he goes back to NK on vacation?? So this whole riggamarole with dark glasses and headscarfs was just a PR gimmick. This guy has just lost all credibility with me.

That is a huge difference in "degree" though. You are really way out there if you try to relativize the nightmarish living conditions of the majority of north Koreans. And have you even considered the hundreds of thousands who are kept in death camps there?

Why so much dislike for this guy? He was just doing his job. It is not like he was providing the North with information. It is silly that the guy has to go by a fake name, move so often and wear a disguise. Let the guy alone.

Dictators' wives tend to be "charming". It's a PR thing. The 'beauty' and the buzz detract, at least for a moment, from the brutality of the tyrant's regime.

That Fujimoto is probably a troll that has discovered the existence of the wife at the same time as us, in the news. He always tells what we already knew.

Food tie us together as human beings.... lovely.

I think Ri Sol-ju and Kenji Fujimoto serve roles that promote good will and help to keep relations from going nuts.
