I thought someone mentioned in a previous article that the men were going on a hunger strike?
Anyway, I'm glad the handover went peacefully, without anyone getting hurt and no charges pressed.

Imagine if you will, three nutcase idelogical Aussies (or kiwis Chinese or French for that matter), boarding an Russian/Italian/English vessel on the high seas and starting to demand what the captain off that ship should do. This is piracy and I have no sympathy for these "heroes" violating the internationally respected laws of the sea.
Why not board an JAL flight and make the same protest? Better take them back to Japan and see them grovel like Paul Watson (I promise I'll never do it again). The sea is governed by international law. For the record I'll say I am against whale hunting but these gus need to pay he price for piracy.

The whales should be protected, the whalers, not so much. Glad the protesters were handed over.

The cause to support whales is fine, but breaking the law, is breaking the law..

Is someone going to have to die on the high seas before someone steps in and puts a stop to this circus of low level terrorism? The way to stop this is to put these so-called activists in prison for 5 years or more. If some people were to vandalize the Sea Shepard's ships in port, disable their propellors, board and harass the crew, there would be arrests, there would be fines and there would be jail time handed out for those who violated their parole and committed these crimes again. Add the dangers of doing this in the middle of the ocean and 5 years is about the right punishment for first time offenders.
As an aside, I'd love to see Fatty and his friends pull this stunt against a North Korean fishing fleet. We'd get to see Mr. Watson put in an honest days labor, if we ever saw him again.

Couldnt agree more Bebert61 can you imagine if these hicks went to China to protest about eating certain animals, they would have a lengthy jail sentence..

So these three were trying to stop the stalkers from being tailed?

Yes, it appears that the 3 Australians boarded the Japanese ship which was tailing the Steve Irwin. They hoped that it would cause the Japanese ship to be detained or slowed enough so that the Steve Irwin could lose them. The Japanese ship is not actively whaling. They are trying to let the rest of the Japanese ships know the location of the Steve Irwin. This is what I think is happening, if I'm wrong, please correct me.

You are correct jonobugs. Except that Watson's plan failed miserably because the SM2 which the three clowns boarded did not go to an Australkian port as they demanded. The ACV Protector came out to get them. Meantime, surveillance of the Steve Irwin was taken over by another ship the YM2 so there was no interuption at all. Meantime, the Australian government and many Australians have now spoken out against this action as "stupid", "illegal" "piracy" etc. and public anger about wasting Australian taxpapers money on these "activists". Watsion himself added fuel to this by publically criticizing the Australian government for a situatioin which he himself caused.

Ossan,
Spot on.

Forest Rescue said it boarded the vessel to try to prevent the Shonan Maru from tailing the Steve Irwin, a ship from anti-whaling group Sea Shepherd, back to the Southern Ocean where Japan annually hunts for whales.
Apparently the Foolish Rangers plan failed. At least they get to go back home, which is what they demanded from the SM2 after the eco-terrorist Watson abandoned them.

This whole thing is starting to take on the attributes of a farce. The Japanese don't need the whales and Watson is getting rich from donations. Truth really is stranger than fiction.
