I'm not sure but isn't 58 a bit on the older side to be diving?

I sincerely hope not. I intend to be diving when I'm that age, and well into my 60s.

Yes, if you have certain medical conditions. If you're hale and hardy like cleo probably is : ), then there really aren't any age limitations. On a side note, the Philippines isn't the safest place to dive in my opinion. I've had my two closest calls while diving there (with local dive masters), one with a ferry passing too close for my comfort and one with fishermen using dynamite close enough to make us think one of our tanks had imploded.

[ fishermen using dynamite] This is just too funny. Sorry USNinJapan2. Can we really call them 'fishermen'? and could you really call them 'dive masters'? In my experience the Philippines is the land of the scam. I won't go back there due to the poor security and general distrust I have of most of the population. I'd personally doubt almost anything that is related to tourism and the Philippines.

My father is close to 58 and still diving. Provided you're healthy it shouldn't be an issue- Cousteau was still diving at much older. It does seem that her buddy (her husband?) wasn't being quite as conscientious as he should have been though.

    That's a very common injury
