this will be a classic battle and Kobayashi will be seeking retribution after a 3-Dog loss. But after dropping the belt do you really think Koba-kun has was it takes to be champion once again? Age and injury are finally taking a toll on the ex-champion. At age 30 his career could be over. One must wonder what the future of a competitive eater is after leaving the toughest of sports.

Yeah, must be tough to recover from 3 dogs down. especially with the roar of the crowd and ten franks to go. How do these guys behave at a normal eatery one wonders? Gimme 30 dogs and the check I'm in a hurry?

Good to see all the negative comments. These "food eating contests" have always really annoyed me because there are so many people in the world who are not able to obtain enough food to survive.

No argument there. But gluttony competitions are pretty gross to watch and send the wrong message. I think Nathan's Hot Dogs ought to end this fine "tradition" and hold a charity concert instead.

A question to those oh-so-moralistic posters who complain about world hunger: And what is it exactly you are doing to end world hunger? Are you taking up arms against perpetrators of hunger, like Mugabe and Kim Sung Il? Or is your compassion limited to making snarky comments on message boards?

Yeah, they're frigging sick, these competitions. Gigantic waste of food and worse, it's setting a bad example, that wasting food is ok.

There's a boring as hell TV program where people just eat a lot of food. It's just disturbing that this is considered normal family entertainment.

Ah yes... that fat bloke with peroxided hair and camouflage pants? Looks like a yeti in knickers? I've only ever heard the man make sounds; 'grunt, glorp, sluuurp, rowwlp, oiishi.' That's about it. Hardly useful for promoting Japanese interests anywhere.

I'd hardly consider hot dogs as food - more like cancer in a bun. But yeah, having some sort of charity to coincide with the contest would be applauded. How about for every hot dog eaten in the contest, and equal number will be donated to the World Food Program.

I never understand the point about this bizarre "sport". These people are not hungry, so why shove all that junk food into their mouths? And the thought that all that unneeded gunk will come out again at the other end shortly... I just find this disgusting.
