Himajin: I haven't seen any finger-pointing to foreigners either, but then, I only watch NHK news, and they are very professional - my Japanese language teacher told me to watch NHK, if I ever want to learn proper Japanese.
One university student confirmed - I wonder which U. in Kansai...
Maybe the government can start a new campaign encouraging people to wear masks, using a chastened Kusanagi holding a mask and saying "it's not okay to go naked"..
Wash your hands.
Drink your OJ.
Don't stand next to someone sputtering and splorking all over.
If you're sick, take the day off.
Well, some death casese were from "excesive inmune reaction" so I would just live normaly and don't stuff my self with vitamins etc. Also why not let people get the flu now? Very few people die and then people will have defenses should shit hit the fan and the virus mutate into a deadly stuff
An overreaction.
To fight these new viruses, the only effective method is prevention.
The source was humans(stupidly and out of greed), treating animals badly. This was the cause of SARS, and BSE.
Until we learn to farm animals in a proper manner, the more deaths can be expected.
People are pretty timid aren't they ? The cases in Japan
aren't exactly life threatening,or are they ?
But just going out to the local mall today made me feel
sick from people being too extra with their masks.
DenDen, the flu has been around a lot longer than present farms, although I agree that present farming methods are in many cases bad and can exacerbate disease transmittal to humans. Animals have diseases, whether or not they interact with humans....toxoplasmosis in cats or gram negative bacteria in the guts of chickens and iguanas for example. The last pandemic was 1918, a time when traditional farming methods were still employed.
Once something starts to infect people, the only way to stop it is to isolate it. Taking people's temperatures as they get on planes is only effective if someone is already symptomatic...you are contagious 1-2 days before the fever or other symptoms appear.
I believe in some parts of the world they are having swine flu parties. This where people come together ans share the flu with others so they can build an immunity to it. What do people think about that?
Until you can convince my coworkers to wash their hands after they take a dump, or convince those that do to use soap and keep their hands under the tap for more than one or two seconds, this bug's gonna kick ass here!

Because articles like this are all over the net discussing the topic.
Nothing in the "article" gives any suggestion that people are actually have infection parties, just some vague musings of a journalist about whether they are a possibility. The flu specialist commented on the idea, "I think it's totally nuts,".
So Himajin questioned your claim that people are having flu infection parties in some parts of the world. The question is still unanswered. I think anyone who does have such a party is downright irresponsible.
Swine flu party is ok, if the partiers isolate themselves 100% from the society on a deserted island to do the party and stay there for a couple of weeks after that. In normal society it does not work, as you eventually spread the disease to unwilling third parties.

Kusanagi ad: a brilliant idea! If I were Masuzoe the health minister, I would recruit him immediately.
