I bet the zoo officials put way to much stress on the panda and that is probably what caused it`s death. But they will never admit that.

Very few victims of suspicious deaths in Japan are given an autopsy. Pandas, it seems, warrant better treatment than humans.

My theory, that I have, that is to say which is mine, is as follows:

Said panda was a sleeper agent sent under the guise of international friendship, but whose real intention was to observe and, if need be, perform acts of sabotage. With the gas fields problem needing just one last push, said panda was sent orders to pop open his lower left, until recently, bamboo-crunching, molar, extract the hidden capsule of digoxin and perform the ultimate sacrifice for both Party and Motherland. His death will be used exaltingly for glorious propaganda purposes, that is to say, another reason to hate the Japanese people, who are not really panda-killers, except to those 1.2 billion people who think they are.

Thank you for allowing me to post my theory, which is to say that I own it. It is mine. Ahem.

The giant panda is revered as a national symbol of China as well as of friendship between the two Asian neighbors.

How ironic in light of current diplomatic difficulties between these two friends.

Only about 1,600 pandas live in the wild.

Only about 1.4 billion Japanese friends remain alive in China

Of course the Panda gets an autopsy, those animals are worth a lot of money.

A Human by comparison is cheap and quickly replaced(which can't be said for the Panda).

Personally I prefer the Lesser or Red Panda over the Giant Panda.

Who imposes this fine?

a national symbol of China as well as of friendship between the two Asian neighbors.

The panda can never be a symbol of friendship if it is not backed up by friendly diplomacy.
