...and these はけん companies go on mass with their mass advertisement misleading the country into poverty.

High rent costs, high food prices, ridiculous taxes, city councils that want money for this that and the other, - is it any wonder then that poverty is on the increase here?

The big difference between France and Japan is that you get a lot of your social security needs taken care of by the government in France.

I've been in what is called a 'Semi-Full time' job for the last few years. I work to just below the hours that would require my employers to pay for my social security. They still would like me to work more hours, to be a team player - but unofficially, of course.

Lots of the people on less than 2M yen get gouged for health and social insurance - which is expensive in Japan. Lots of the new workers in the market will never be able to make enough to raise a family properly. Of course, the employers will then moan about the falling birthrate - completely ignoring the fact that they, and their shady practices are to blame.

Increasing poverty, increasing unemployment rate, increasing mental health issues, failing economy, threat of recession, political corruption, under-staffed hospitals, unfinished roadways, increasing bankruptcies in small business. Is it just me, or is Japan turning to poop?

For some reason I read the heading "lawyers express concern over expansion of poverty rate" and I'm thinking "sure they would, if no one has money how are they (the lawyers) going to make a living?"

This could almost describe a lot of places on earth right now, the edge of the cliff that is a global recession, so to speak.

The law should protect temp workers by ensuring they get the same employment conditions as full-time staff. An initial increase in unemployment is inevitable, but employers will get the message that they must be efficient to stay alive.

The era of employing someone forever is over. For unskilled or low skilled worker has very limited employment opportunities. While they have temporary job, the government and employer insured for them. The worker also contribute for insurance if they can.

When they are out of work, they claim for unemployment benefit for fix terms such as six months. Encourging to establish the small business such as noddle stall on the road. They need the very low interest rate loans for that. When the time is good, they repay their loans. It is a not a perfect solution for the real poverty. However it can ease some pains & sucide rates.

Exploitation leads to poverty, poverty leads to communism. Japan because of its collective culture will be the first developed nation to go communist if Japan goes into a deeper reccession. I was suprised talking to a group of homeless people in Tokyo how many of them had good English skills (40%) and were more politicaly aware of what was happening than most other Japanese. Japans homeless do not seem to have the same amount of mentally challenged or addicted persons that western countries have. Many groups seem to be running their own recycling business to help survive. Would a re-training scheme help or is this just the emerging "middle-class" missing the point that there is no work even for trained people? India now has thousand of trained IT people and no work for them. To end homelessness you must have full employment or as they suggest a system that supports the unemployed but also you need affordable housing.

Yet Japanese people still give a bizarre amount of loyalty to their employers and still work long hours of overtime for free

Maybe if the people who own giant corporations should try giving an average person a reason to want to live. If they ran their businesses at cost, while giving people good salaries and health insurance, the people wouldn't feel a need to kill themselves. Ask the question "what is the greed that drives the richest people on earth to endlessly seek more wealth? What insanity is it based on? What is the point of endless piles of money and power? There should be a world-wide discussion, asking the richest people to explain their motivation in creating more and more needless wealth FOR THEMSELVES. They have the ability to create wonderful lives for average people, at no harm to themselves. They don't need another penny. If they did this, they would be increasing the value of all money, including their own. They could be worshiped as GODS by the average people on whom they showed mercy and love. They are given this opportunity. Let us hope they are moved to feel love for their fellow humans. If they don't, there is the possibility that the masses will soon spend their wrath and hopelessness upon those who benefit from their labor.
