Nicky, I live in Hachinohe, we are in Aomori prefecture. And let me tell you we felt them all! I had just said to my wife the day before that things had started to settle down as we hadn't had any strong quakes in a while. Spoke too soon, I guess.

Felt all of them here in the Misawa area. Second one had water sloshing out of the kitchen sink. Was thinking to myself late this week how the earth had been quite still for some time. Hope nothing damaged or anyone hurt. Maybe just letting off steam.

Every damn story about the quake repeats these words... "the worst nuclear crisis since Chernobyl."...so sick of reading it everyday.

Himajin, Thanks, have been looking for that kind of homepage for a while. Anyone know where there is a graph like this one, to this one: http://quake.crowe.co.nz/ for the Japanese quakes?
Tamesu San, That pattern, that has started showing more clearly in the last month was initially predicted in April after seismologists started to work out what had happened in the way of plate movements on 3-11. The plate around Tohoku epicentre moved so much that it caused pressure at the ends, which is north off the coast of Iwate, and south off the coast of Ibaragi/Chiba. Iwate moved more in the 3-11 quake, so seismologists think that it shouldn't be a problem, and will just have aftershocks. But the southern end didn't move enough, and so they think there needs to be a quake of about M8 to relieve the pressure, sometime over the next year. The only thing that can stop that is lots and lots of M5-6 quakes that would also relieve pressure. Unfortunately we haven't been getting anywhere near enough, and seismologists are still saying that we can expect another mega quake out there off the coast of Ibaragi/Chiba. Anyway, lots more of info out there on the net, Google Scholar etc. If I wasn't living in Japan I would find it all quite fascinating!

Earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, typhoons, floods, landslides, tornados and every other natural event have nothing to do with any god.........

How can a loving God allow suffering to continue to occur in the world which He created? For those who have endured massive suffering themselves, this is much more than a philosophical issue, but often becomes a very deep-seated personal and emotional issue.Does God intervene in the midst of this suffering and pain. Isn't God the one who is enthroned as the Holy One, After all, doesn’t God lead a pretty sheltered life? Isn’t God lucky to live in heaven where all is sweetness and light, where there is no weeping or fear, no hunger or hatred? What does God know of all that humans go through? Dosen't God allow us humans Free will to do anything we want to...either it being right or wrong or rather living for him. So when the earth shakes and we cry out who are we crying out to? are we cursing God or are we asking him to come and help us.

I haven't felt the quake this morning. Maybe I'm too tired tobe awaken by it.
With regards to quake wished by god. It depends on one's belief. We just need to respect each and everyone's belief. Just hope no enormous damage created by this morning quake. ^^

You're welcome, Ranger_Miffy2 and Lunchbox. I don't know about a graph like you refer to, Lunchbox, but the Japan Quake Map has a 'Daily Energy Release' graph that's interesting.

Other than the annoyance of being woken up in the middle of the night and needing to turn on the TV to see if there's a tsunami warning, it's really not a big deal.

@ Lunchbox. Could you insert an example link for stories on the stress transfer to the Chiba/Ibaragi region please? I can't find anything that matches.
Cheers

Well Airion, I think you are dealing with it all in an incredibly positive way! Kudos to you!

There is increasing evidence to suggest that we, as the human species, have established our civilization during a relative quiet period of geological activity, we seem to be entering a more active period of tectonics. The earth, billions of years old, has cycles, just as we do.
