Nuts. So much for Thanksgiving in Japan. Hopefully there isn't any damage.

Woke us up in Tokyo! Second floor of our little wooden house was swinging for a while. Hope the plant is okay . And incidentally, Tokyo Bay had a little tremor yesterday too. A tiny one but all of Japan seems to have been awakened by March 11th!

A sweet little quake that gently woke me up, and gently rocked me back to sleep.

This one and the one near Hiroshima were felt over a big area...a little worrisome.

That one was pretty long this morning - my building was shaking for more than a minute, I think. At least it was relatively weak - shindo 4 at the max.

If one of the cooling pools at the nuclear power plant collapsed it would be worse than 3/11.The government have ordered TEPCO to remove all spent fuel within 2 years.

@ Zichi. This morning's quake was strong and right on top, or under the plant. I am praying that it's holding up okay but looking a photographs of the buildings, I am worried.

I didn't feel a thing luckily. Why is "yurekuru" not showing this quake though? Is it because the US geo reported it?

It's been a while since I woke up due to an earthquake.

Looks like many people had another sleepless night. We had a really terrible thunderstorm up here, I thought it was the end of the world with very strong winds.

Actually, even tho it woke me up at 4:30, it allowed me to sleep in until 11:30. Gives me peace of mind when an earthquake hits, coz I know another wont be hitting for at least a couple of days if not a week now

I felt it all the way up in Aomori!

It was a 6.1, not a 5.9.

Why's that? Sure, there's evidence to suggest that a big quake releases 'pent up' stress among plates and fault lines, but that's been said since March 11th and we're STILL getting rather big quakes/aftershocks. The quake that pummelled New Zealand this year was actually an aftershock, and did FAR more damage than the initial quake. No point in being paranoid, as it's a matter of 'when', not 'if' another will occur, but no point being convinced another won't hit tomorrow, either.
Anyway, while I'm not in that area I still often feel like there might be an earthquake occuring -- but that's usually just lack of sleep taking it's toll. I hope everyone is okay, and there was no significant damage.

Slept through because some nutcases in the neighbourhood partied until three o'clock. Japanese students... are sometimes worse than Japanese quakes.

I know this is about earthquakes and Japan, but my dear Johanenes Weber, why on earth did you not call the J police, you live in Japan right?? 110 is the magic number say SUMIMASEN GA Soto de daigakusei ga totemo urusai no de and presto magico the J police should come right away and tell the stupid loud university students to be quiet.

Foxie, hang in there up in Hokkaido! Think of the bright side, so you get a lot of cold and lots of cold wind and cold snow but hey at least you do not have to worry so much about the Dai Ichi nuclear power reactor and earthquakes, radiation etc..like we do down here in sunny and warm Tokyo.

We just had a M6.1 eartquake up here in Hokkaido. My house was swaying quite a bit but no damage. I hope there won't be another one as it is supposed to snow soon.

Foxie and everyone in and around Hokkaido take care. Is it your second big shaky this week? Starting to know how salt feels before it lands on the fish and chips.
