A man was found dead in the toilet on a the WideView Hida 36 Limited Express from Takayama to Osaka on Tuesday night, police said Wednesday. Train staff discovered blood coming from inside the toilet, and police were called to the train while it stopped at Kusatsu station in Kusatsu City at around 7 p.m.

Police said the man, around 30 years old, had blood coming from his neck and wrist, and was dead. A cutter-knife was found by his side and the door was locked from the inside. Police are treating it as suicide and are in the process of confirming his identity.

According to JR West, the roughly 120 passengers on board changed trains and there were no delays to the timetable.

Eeehhh its so painful to cut your neck and wrist with a knife to committ suicide. There are much more easy, less time consuming and less painful methods to die.

I hope the authorities investigate this thoroughly before dismissing it as a case of suicide. While a neck wound may be easily fatal, such is not the case for a self-inflicted wrist wound. Committing suicide by cutting the wrist is like trying to kill oneself by holding one's breath.

A cutter-knife was found

As opposed to the other kind? Duh. The proper term is "utility knife" or "razor knife" or "crafts knife."

Wiki:

A utility knife (also called a box cutter, a boxcutter, a razor blade knife, a carpet knife, a stanley knife or a stationery knife) is a common tool used in various trades and crafts for a variety of purposes.

There is high tech about a hole in the floor. He really should have waited until he got off the train. He shouildn't have chosen that spot to end his life.

The callous disregard for another human's life on this board is just abhorrent.

Must have been a hellava day to stop by a convenie, buy a box cutter and slash away. This was obviously not a well planned suicide. Spur of the moment or perhaps something more sinister.
