Man dies after being hit by express train in Nagasaki Pref

NAGASAKI —

A man was killed Tuesday after being hit by an express train in Isahaya City, Nagasaki Prefecture, police said, adding the man has not yet been identified.

According to police, the man was hit at a railroad crossing at 4:50 p.m. by the express train Kamome 36 bound for Hakata from Nagasaki The driver told police he saw the man come onto the tracks, but was unable to stop the train in time. About 150 people were on the train at the time of the incident but none of them were injured, police said.

Police think the man was trying to cross the tracks but may have fallen.

This is not news! Japan has one of the worst suicide rates in the world! This I do not think was an accident, the guy knew the express train was coming, and he must have already have planned his exit from this world.

Maybe the driver did say that- to the police. The driver cannot make any public comment until the investigations are complete.

Driver should be saying that not the police.

The police might be relaying the stories of eye-witnesses, who would have been in a better position to notice that he caught his foot and fell. The driver might have been pretty busy with other things to notice such a detail.

The guy very well might have made a rash decision to try and beat the train. --Cirroc

I always feel for the driver of the train because he will be reliving this nightmare for the rest of his life, which is something the person who CAUSED the accident won't have to live with since he is dead ( and dead because most likely thru act of Suicide or being drunk and stupid).

I was being facetious. Cars cannot exactly stop on a dime either, and while cars may not be on rails, they cannot just swerve any old direction either. Cars are almost as locked into hitting pedestrians as train drivers, but people blame the drivers of cars easily yet always let the train drivers off easy. I find that odd.
