with security like this I am scared!!

    Don't be ridiculous..

Go live in the US or Europe - the borders controls are so transparent that you'd have a heart attack from fear before even leaving the house...

There are thousands of illegal aliens flooding into the US EVERYDAY sans border checks and scrutinization...

Japan and those of us actually living here have nothing to worry about by comparison...

security? [through a cargo gate without undergoing an immigration check after arriving at an international ferry port in Osaka]. It was a cargo gate!! not lax security. It was probably an unintentional slip as opposed to a malicious attempt to get into japan illegally. But of course we don't know how they know this. We can only assume it's because the man came back to the ship.

Japan would be one of the easiest countries in the world to 'slip into'. When they introduced the fingerprinting and heightened security checks they also openly advertised which ports of entry did not have the security. Obviously, this is one of them. How many more illegals have slipped into Japan through this so-called loophole?

  • Harry_Gatto at 11:36 AM JST - 13th August

But what is the full story? Was he caught or was he just seen passing through the gate?

But what is the full story? Was he caught or was he just seen passing through the gate?

And why are we hearing about it two months later?

This is the one they found out about. Wonder how many others go in?

Infact this 'loopwhole' has been there for years & They are unaware of its size. There are dozens of foreigners who made there way into Japan through this famous loopwhole.

I think that "a loophole in tight security" is a paradox.

  • nandakandamanda at 05:32 PM JST - 13th August

    Revealing a loophole in (otherwise/seemingly) tight security ... ... ...

    Hotginger:

    It's not a paradox, it's a tautology.

    No. Oxymoron.
