TOKYO —
A man on Sunday afternoon leaped from Rainbow Bridge into Tokyo Bay off Daiba. He was taken to hospital but died about three hours later, police said Monday.
According to police, a passerby on the bridge spotted the man on the bridge and called police. By the time police arrived, the man had already jumped. Police found his car on the bridge, and are now trying to identify him.

Much better than the gas suicides/jumping off buildings onto crowded sidewalks.

OK, so 1 idiot killed his sorry ass. Hope that doesn't close the bridge for walking. It is a great experience to see the Tokyo City line from the bridge.

Well, if that doesn't beat all! Someone has used a somewhat traditional method of suicide. A similar thing happened at a bridge in Brisbane a few years ago. It became notorious for jumpers, so the BCC installed a 3m high fence along the length of the bridge to stop people from jumping. The main issue cited was, jumpers leaving their cars on the roadway and jumping with their keys. Now, the ever inventive suicidal individuals steal three and five ton trucks, so they can stand on the roofs of the trucks to leap to their death.

call me crazy, but wouldn`t a simple check of his plate be sufficient?

The Story does not tell: Did he lock his car, and did he take his shoes off?

does that drop into the Ocean or concrete? I mean, how did he make it to hospital alive? there must be a hero somewhere in this.

Sounds like a cry for help.

no such luck.. but leaping from that height is like leaping into concrete.. my guess it was by chance he initially survived and died of massive internal injuries shortly after.

unless you're a very accurate jumper, you will end up in water from the Rainbow Bridge. not exactly the surest way to commit suicide. I've heard the ambulance and police cars yesterday afternoon, but I haven't thought such a tragedy happened. and I cross that bridge every day...

Why do the media in Japan continue to publicise suicides. There is no logical reason for it.
Australia hasn't published a suicide for 20 years!
