Man sets himself on fire after emailing his estranged wife

RIP, a horrible way to go. Threatening suicide in a situation like this is a poor attempt at control. Guys, if a woman doesn't want to be with you, move on, "plenty of fish in the sea" as they say. I'm glad the wife was able to leave him.

Horrible death. But the wife is lucky he's gone. He could just as easily have killed her if he was this unstable.

He must have been an awful person to be in a relationship with. I'm trying hard to feel sympathy for his plight, but whatever his problems were, they were all his own. His last communication with his estranged wife was for this act of manipulation.

Already has a history of DV, plus unstable enough to try a ploy like this....the wife dodged a bullet, it could have been her doused in petrol.

Some innocent people in the mansion could easily have died as a result of this mans selfishness. So glad they - and the estranged wife - were OK.

DV is a vicious never-ending cycle. It escalates into violence at some point. Glad she ditched him or it could've been murder-suicide. . . Even worse if kids are involved.

Burn yourself outside, selfish idiot. Killing yourself is the most selfish act you can do but to not think what fire in an apartment might do.

We don't know what the wife may have done to him. Still he should not have done it in such a way causing inconvenience to others. Stealthily jumping off a ship with a rucksack full of stones firmly strapped on well out to sea at night would have done the job better.

Domestic violence +police involvement = guy dead. But she could advise him to see psychiatrists and try to help instead seek revenge.

A woman can easily accuse aan of domestic violence.

And there is no psychiatric help for someone accused of domestic violence. In the past, Japan didn't do anything about DV.

Now on the other hand a man can easily be accused of it in divorce cases in order to get a financial settlement and ensure children are but seen.

The number of women who lie about DV is very small I assume - and I hope. But they are out there.

A woman can kill a baby and get sympathy. A man kills himself and he's considered a monster and/or a loser.

Suicide is higher among divorced men esp those who don't get to see their kids.
