I salute and thank these brave vets for their sacrifice and service. I had the pleasure of meeting some of these hero's (including Medal of Honor recipients) at a dedication ceremony/flight of a C-17 Globemaster jet that was named the "Spirit of Go For Broke" after their unit. We also displayed this jet at Yokota Air Base in the annual Japan-America Friendship Festival/Air Show. People waited 2-3 hours in the sweltering August heat to get a chance to sit in the cockpit. I was surprised very few Japanese know of the story of the 100th/442nd and their accomplishments.

Oh, a story about these persecuted Americans and their families who were forced to relocate to some remote desert during the war because they shared common ancestry with the enemy. Sometime later the US government creates a segregated unit just for Japanese Americans led by white and Korean-American officers that Liberates Dachau Concentration Camp but doesn't get the credit because it was considered un-PC for a persecuted folk whose families are still interned at relocation camps to be associated with a relocation camp for persecuted Jews.

Very interesting story. Will do much credit for pro-US sentiment in Japan.

That;s an interesting concept considering that Korea was part of the Japanese Empire at the time.

Any country that has gone to war and won does something like this. Dont crap on the respect that is being given to these people.

What country has not done something like that in war time. That is like the first thing you do. JP did the same. They locked up any non-japanese in the country. It's not fair, it's not pretty, it's war.

In actuality, I have no idea if JP gave prisoners a choice to fight in that situation (let me know if they did). I know the US did at least give some Japanese-Americans a chance to prove their loyalty by fighting against their own home countries.
