How I love my dear country, Mexico! Excuses, excuses and more excuses. Hey don't point the finger at us, and don't try to assume that it was the poorest Mexicans who were dying?? What a bunch of BS! I am Mexican and I know that is was probably the poorest folk, with no education who are the first to die, not only in Mexico but anywhere in the world. I do agree that just finger pointing is not the answer, and the "holding hands" part is funny, yes let's hold hands but with rubber gloves!

I am not Mexaican, but I think Mexico acted very bravely in closing the capital completely down for a week to stop the spread. As a recent Newsweek article says, the whole world owes a big Gracias to Mexico.
The first confirmed pig flu case was in Wisconsin, USA, in 2005.
In the U.S. a school principal died, as did other quite middle-class folk.

interesting article in the japan times about discrimination against victims of the recent flu-outbreak in this country. i wasn't surprised to hear about it...

jonnyboy: I read that article. It was interesting that in other countries those with swine flu can talk on Tv with their face shown, but in Japan they have to hide...I think this kind of behavior will only cause people to not go to the doctor when they feel ill. That is why probably some people got to the country with the virus to begin with - they did not want to bother with all the fingerpointing.

Now, I agree with the Mexican ambassodor, it is time to stop the useless finger pointing and time to join forces (like the Wonder Twins) and fight against this evil, horrible, low down, influenza!! shazam!

I do not understand the Mexican Ambassador's argument. When the swine flu outbreak occurred Mexican health officials closed down Mexico City and quarantined flu victims, as they should during a health crisis. It is unfair and illogical to criticize Japan or any other country for doing the same. Is the Ambassador advocating purposely infecting more people? By the way the group that should be most heavily screened are the college age Americans, they were the ones primarily responsible for transmission.
