Waste of money.
Japan will never be able to match US early warning capabilities, so there is no need to try. It's better for Japan to remain under the US umbrella, and use this budgeted money on social programs for their enormous elderly population.

It is same as fighting Global Warming, given the choice i would prefer waste of money for global warming over missile warning.

Yeah, more stupid ideas for money, desperatly needed in other areas...

They simply want to be perceived as one of the big boys. Like when animals bear there vunerable areas like their chest to show no fear of their opponent. China is prime example of always trying to flex its might.
I also agree the money could go to something more important. I also feel the same way about the bailouts in the US. They could put an entire generation though college and provide universal healthcare.

haha.. they didnt see Wargames back in 1972? Just one satellite??? they couldn't match the capabilities the US has at the time. With current capabilities, a missile aimed at Japan could come from anywhere.
they better spend their money on a foreign intelligence apparatus that can work together with CIA and others. Once the missile is fired there's only a couple minutes warning, and what can you do then?
Japanese are also really good with making toys, so perhaps they can help with electronic surveillance and creating more innovative spying devices.
the best is to catch and neutralize the bad guys BEFORE they launch...

Yeah. The reaction from the United States. As seen above.

Utter waste of money in itself, but then whose going to operate it after? They can't even sail a ship in a straight line, let alone aim anything at any incoming missile! And how are they going to make a distinction from commercial aircraft, or the military jets of their allies? This is a bad accident waiting to happen

We can clearly see what fat chairs are thinking about and whats on their minds. Why can't they for once think of better projects for the country. Why not make a huge solar power electricity generating station for all the money they would use for the satellite? Why not use the generous US protective umbrella and relax, think of environment, think of elderly who are on a brink of starvation and have to do crimes to survive? Gosh, what a sick fat chair minds...No wonder our world is falling apart...

Japan can not always count on the United States. They seem to be going broke quickly and are going to concentrate on internal problems. American is either extrovert or introvert. Japan is going to have to be able to navigate through troubled waters by itself. This is not about matching anyone but the ability to defend onseslf.

I suppose I can understand Japan's desire to have it's own missile detections system with North Korea and China so close by... but it does seem a bit of a waste of money in such a troubled economy when the US is perfectly willingly to provide missile detection for Japan for free.
