Mt. Asahidake, the highest mountain in Hokkaido, has seen its first snowcap of the season, 12 days earlier than average, according to a local observatory on Sept. 12, 2009. Tourists are able to enjoy the sight of snow and colored leaves at the same time. (Kyodo)

I climbed Kurodake (another peak on Taisetsuzan) on Saturday, and it was beautiful.

You take some great photos, Pekoism. Wish mine of Japan were half as good!
